"Cultural Storytelling Through Decor": A Hands-On Workshop
with Sea Bonito
Join us for an exclusive, one-hour workshop led by seasoned event decorator Oyindamola Ojo-Eriamiatoe. This interactive session is designed for anyone passionate about creating beautiful, meaningful spaces. We'll explore how to go beyond simple aesthetics to infuse events with a powerful narrative and a sense of purpose.
In this workshop, you'll learn to:
Select a Theme: Understand how to choose a theme that honors Black history and culture.
Source Materials: Discover how to find and repurpose materials that tell a story.
Layer Textures & Colors: Master the art of using textiles, patterns, and colors to create depth and visual interest.
Create a Heritage Centrepiece: A step-by-step demonstration on building a stunning centerpiece that serves as a focal point for any event.
By the end of this workshop, you'll have the skills and inspiration to create event decor that not only looks great but also pays homage to the rich legacy of Black history.

Sustainability Workshop with We Are the IROKO
Step into a world of creativity, connection and conscious living at our Sustainable Living Workshops.
We will be running 3 workshops and you can choose to attend any or all of them.
Fee: £3 includes all materials. Pay at the venue.
The workshops are run by a ground-breaking social enterprise revolutionising sustainability in Milton Keynes!
Through innovative art projects and community workshops, they are transforming the way we think about waste creating a circular economy that benefits both people and planet.
From turning coffee grounds into hand scrubs, rescuing farm produce for jams and chutneys, to upcycling abandoned furniture into beautiful art pieces, they're proving that sustainability can be both creative and practical.
Their innovative approach extends to converting car tires into playground equipment and turning waste into opportunity.
Their impact goes beyond environmental conservation...they are building community skills, fighting food waste and creating economic opportunities through sustainable living.
We are the Iroko C.I.C believe Eco living and Cultural preservation, the two main focus of their work align because both are about respect and continuity for what was there before us and minimising waste of resources.
Through their cultural exchange programme they offer workshops and activities designed to preserve the cultural heritage of Africa through their interactive theatrical productions, cultural arts workshops and encourage others to preserve theirs for the enrichment of the global community and for problem solving ideas exchange.
Eco living teaches us to care for the earth, use resources wisely and live in balance with nature. Cultural preservation reminds us to honour traditions, stories and practices passed down through generations. Many of these traditions such as natural building, herbal medicine, craftsmanship, communual sharing are themselves sustainable ways of living
Through pop-up workshops and hands-on training, We Are The Iroko are empowering residents to be part of the solution, making sustainability accessible and engaging for everyone.

Drumming Workshop with Awake to Know Africa
Learn or improving your African Drumming Skills at our drumming workshop.
Drum beats – Drums and drum beating are traditional methods of communication associated most commonly with Africa but also featuring across many cultures.
The use of the drum is not only rhythmically enhancing but is also a type of therapy. Drum Therapy is an ancient approach that uses rhythm to promote healing and self-expression. From the Shamans of Mongolia to the Minianka healers of West Africa, therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years to create and maintain physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Music as therapy is an increasingly recognized method when working with those who are learning disabled. Drumming can have a calming effect on those affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
The relationship that exists between drum beating and simple and more complex Mathematics makes it a significant learning tool.
Awake To Know Africa Run by one of the city's Black female Pioneers, Vicky Mensah, Awake To Know Africa CIC is a community interest company dedicated to celebrating African heritage while promoting inclusion, communication, and community cohesion.
They provide creative opportunities for people of all ages through storytelling, drama, traditional folktales, music, and cultural costuming.
We will run be running 4 workshops and you can choose to attend any or all of them.
Fee: £4 per session or two sessions for £7 or 4 sessions for £12 {All resources materials will be provided will be provided at no extra cost to you.}
Our highly skilled and talented facilitators provide a range of colourful, fun, engaging and interactive activities designed to help children and young people to develop their knowledge of the world through exploring and experiencing African cultures. We bring African culture alive with energetic passion that will bring inspiration, joy and learning.
